FAQ

March 4th, 2009

Examples of my work will be up on this site shortly. Please be patient.

1) General knowledge?

  • I am situated in the United States. I will be charging in US dollars. I am also a college student (for the moment) I may or may not be able to meet deadline with some orders because of this. I try to ship within 1-3 days of payment but I have taken up to a week on occasion. I can generally finish a sewing commission in less than a month.
  • While at the dorm: items come from a smoke free and pet free home.
While at home: items will come from a house with 3-4 cats at any given time. Still smoke-free. (you can often see my cats via the rotating image script at the header of this blog!)

2)Shipping and Payment

  • I will be shipping using the USPS (United State Postal Service).
  • I can currently accept both CC and non-CC Paypal. I will also take money orders within the US, but my policy with them is not to begin the project until the money has been obtained (for materials)
  • The person paying will need to pay in two parts. The first part is for materials. (I cannot poof these out of nowhere, sadly) and the second part is for labor and shipping. This makes it simpler for both of us because we will have an accurate weight of the finished item to estimate shipping costs.
  • I will ship internationally.
  • Shipping on multiple items will be combined to save you money, unless you state that you need one item sent sooner than the other.
  • I will need your zipcode and country for an estimate for shipping.
  • Very rarely, I will do a trade for an item. It’s certainly worth a shot, so email if you feel the need. But please do not offer something insulting. (ie offering me some hair ties or a pair of bloomers for a jumperskirt with hand embroidery and matching headdress)

3)Quality

  • I personally like kona cotton, but if you have a preference or your own fabric that you’d like to use, please let me know in your email.
  • I make my own lace (crocheted) so that I am sure of the quality (100% cotton), but if you have another preference, please let me know. Thus far I have not found an affordable supplier of torchon (the lace btssb often uses).
  • I do not own a serger. I will zig-zag stitch the seams to avoid unraveling. I am working on purchasing a serger and the funds from these commissions will help greatly with that.
  • I also do not own a dress form. I am working on saving up for that. I cannot have the dress form at my dorm either due to limited space. Due to this, I will only be able to make skirts, accessories, and socks while at school. These I can accompish in a variety of sizes.

4) Additional

  • I will take pictures of the finished item and post them to this site. This is not negotiable. I need examples of my work and proof. You are welcome to send me pictures of you in your garment or with your item.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me. I will try to update this section as often as possible in order to help you.
