Gah!

August 27th, 2010

So i’ve been away for a little bit. Between my mom getting married and a friend getting married, and school, and work, and life in general…
Things just have not gotten finished.
Thankfully, after this weekend, I get a bit of time to unwind from all the stress of the summer, and truly enjoy being back at school.
So… I guess I should say what HAS gotten finished…
I almost completed a “Matron of Honor” Dress for my mother’s wedding. It ended up being less formal and I was permitted to wear a sundress.
I spun a little bit in my spare time.
My desk moved to a much nice location.
I am working on completing another “Matron of Honor” dress for a friend’s wedding.
I am working on trying to be more honest rather than nice. I keep reverting back to thinking “if I say this, people will be happy” and then I end up owing people mittens and socks and gloves and such. So, after I catch up this recent batch, no more! I am going to knit something for MYSELF. The only thing i’ve knitted that I still own is a dicebag. Everything else has gone to other people some way or another.

That being said, I’m out to locate expensive college books. Oh joy.

Lately…

June 6th, 2010

Been catching up on things!
My quest for a vegetarian diet is not going so well. I keep flopping back and forth between veggie days and “normal” days. I will just have to try harder.

I finished up a skirt for my friend Kai.

I got started on the October is for Spinners (Rav Link) scarf (FINALLY! I’ve been wanting to for about a year! Don’t worry, everything else should still get done!)

I can see where i got a little messy with my PRTs, but I’m not sure if I want to fix it or not… If I have to rip it out, it may sit dormant for a long time…

A day off for once!

January 10th, 2010

I had a day off today, and aside from completing some pajama pants that were due finished before christmas for the sister-in-law…  I decided to try “Hot Chocolate on a Stick”. They are in the fridge as I type this sentence. I got the recipe from Gifters Log, and thought it was PERFECT for this time of year. I have no chocolate-crafting experience, and I found this to be easy. I would say… Keep your cats away and use a frosting bag instead of a sandwich bag. Mine didn’t seal properly and made a big big mess….

Yarn Store

October 7th, 2009

I’ve lived in pittsburgh for… going on 5 months now. You would think I would have been to the yarn store by now…

My husband said he would take me today. So we went to Yarns Unlimited. It was an amazing experience. I starting flitting about, and was really nervous, so I tend to do this really odd… movement with my arms. Lets say you are banging both your fists on a table. I do this in the air when I am excited. No idea why.

I ended up picking some amazing yarn for a project I had planned on using another color for… But I saw this green and fell in love. Maybe I can use it for something else.

The ladies were friendly and very helpful. I’ve never been so much in a yarn nirvana. (though this does mean I’ve broken my yarn diet… *sigh *)

Classes and To-Do’s

September 5th, 2009

I was told that if I can gather up 4 people for a class, we are 100% GO! (I need at least 4)

I can also create a custom class, so if you and a few friends have something you want to learn that I know how to do, let me know! (This would be along the lines of…. we have knitting 101, knitting 201 and cables class. What I can create is like…. Ruffle scarves are popular right now. I can make a ruffle scarf class if 4 people are interested in it. ((Except personally I dislike ruffle scarves, but I love knitting.)))

I’m off Monday! I hope I can go see an old friend of mine (can we go get bagels?), and perhaps get some sewing done. I need to wait until next payday to get some more poplin and a few purse zippers for something I have planned.

Speaking of planning… Here is my epic to-do list:

  1. Finish Elly’s cutsew and skirts (why has this taken so long, I will never know. She’s so amazingly patient)
  2. DeleCiel IW Skirt
  3. Work on Halloween skirt
  4. Halloween Jacket
  5. Halloween cutsew
  6. Piano Print Skirt
  7. Apple Pickin’ JSK
  8. Mother In Law’s other sock
  9. Grey Skirt
  10. Off-White Cutsew
  11. Military JSK

I want to try to get this done by the end of September, but I have a feeling I might get to number 5 if I’m lucky. We’ll see, yes? I’m trying not to undertake too many projects, but I want my fabric stash to go down! I’ve passed 300 yards now and it’s just gotta go!

95% completion

July 1st, 2009

So I finally finished Kai’s cutsew… Well 95% because it’s missing lace. But! I know exactly how much I need to make so I will have it prepared for the next time we meet. I’m going to make good on this. :3

Drawing and Embroidery

June 24th, 2009

Today I had my embroidery class. I learned a lot of nifty stuff!

And then I spent a little bit on iScribble.net . I got a drawing done of a skirt I’m planning to finish soon. I hit the mark I need to keep the computer. I now only need 102.00 for the room I’ll be staying in for otakon. I’m really excited! Look for me there!

Progress

June 21st, 2009

It is very important that I show you the new cutsew bodice for Kai’s piece.

It's pinned because I cut it out too wide to make sure I had room for error. :3 Much better looking than last time, I think.

This is the back! It looks a LOT more like the stock images provided. I hope this gives Kai some hope.

I still have yet to even up the bottom, but it will happen. I’m technically on my lunchbreak right now, so I’ll be having most of the bodice done today and hopefully the sleeves as well.

Kai’s cutsew progress

May 3rd, 2009
KAI. This is the first progress post for you.

KAI. This is the first progress post for you.

I got the sides sewn and the bottom done as close to an actual tshirt hem as I could. It needs ironed, but that’s besides the point. The top has enough to gather, which is good because I was worried. The sleeves should be the right length and I’m working on the cording. The elastic will have to come later, but this should fall at your natural waist/bellybutton depending. (at 12 inches long, it’s belly button length on me) Hope that gives you a glimmer of hope! (or the sense to smack me before i mutilate more fabric!)
