Been catching up on things!
My quest for a vegetarian diet is not going so well. I keep flopping back and forth between veggie days and “normal” days. I will just have to try harder.
I finished up a skirt for my friend Kai.
I got started on the
October is for Spinners (Rav Link) scarf (FINALLY! I’ve been wanting to for about a year! Don’t worry, everything else should still get done!)
I can see where i got a little messy with my PRTs, but I’m not sure if I want to fix it or not… If I have to rip it out, it may sit dormant for a long time…
in progress, knitting, sewing
I tried, I really did. It’s too close to christmas to start a yarn diet. I have way too many things left to finish.
- 2 commissions from much longer ago than they should be.
- Pair of sock for my grandmother
- pair of socks for my mother-in-law
- pair of gloves for my mother.
- Maybe a hat for my grandfather.
- I would need to sew a gunsock for my father-in-law.
- My sister-in-law M will get a gift certificate to Sephora
- sister-in-law S will get a duffel bag with horses on it for when she runs track or visits friends
- Brother-in-law J1 will get a game, courtesy of husband’s paycheck
- Brother-in-law J2 will get… I guess whatever husband decides. I have no idea what to get him.
- Stepsister A and her husband shall get a card with some cash.
- Stepsister S will get a card with some cash, and an invitation to write while she is deployed.
- Father and stepmom…. we get them butter cookies every year. I think I want my little brother to get those for him this year, and I’ll get him something from Pittsburgh Popcorn. (best ever!)
That covers family. Then I have friends. As much as I want to get all of my friends stuff, it really doesn’t work that way… I may send some boxed cookies for a few friends, and then some random things to others.
I will post them as I finish them, but I have to get those commissions done first. (I say this, but goodness, does it ever happen? Hopefully. I have a ten day break coming up where I’ll be down in my hometown in West Virginia. I will probably take my sewing machine so I can get some work done.
Now for some pictures of yarn!

knitting, start
And on that note, let’s try out some extreme knitting sometime.

I really think this would help me with socks. I tend to like to make one…. and just… move to something else, for a change, and think i’ll get back to it later. Meh

SOCKS FROM THE TOE UP! I OWN IT! I’m so happy! <3 (And I’ve joined the knit-a-long. heehe my first knit-a-long!)
That being said, I had to take apart that sock I started in the pink camoflague due to it being… well… wonky! I cannot yet write my own patterns it seems. All in due time.
I keep meaning to sew. I’ve got to draft the sleeves for Kai’s top and then I can work on the proper yardage of lace i’ll need.
So.. Cat Clay. The stuff Kitty Litter is made of? Apparently I was used to it for most of my life and when I moved onto campus, I became severely intolerant of it. For the past 3 or so years I’ve been a bit sensitive to it, but nothing like the last couple times I’ve visited my mom. Alice likes to roll in it. It’s a gross habit. Maybe the pine litter will deter that. Anyway, then she likes to come and try to wake me up… by rubbing her body all over my face. I spent the whole night breathing shallow to the point where sleep was impossible. at 3:30am I left my house and ventured to my dorm. From then on, my breathing became much better. WHAT IS IN THAT STUFF?
I’ve been severely neglecting my spinning. I’m really sad about it, but I’ve got some things I need to finish first! :D Until next time.
Oh yeah! And I finished up my Possum Shrug!

YAY ALL DONE
cats, knitting, start
My package from the Loopy Ewe arrived. TODAY. That was super fast! I recommend them even more!
(In fact, I’ll be spending some more now that I know how the needles are.)

Loopy Ewe Package!

Hiya Hiya Needles, Sock Blocker, Yarn
Gorgeous! I’m so happy with that order that there WILL be another one. :D
The Hiya Hiya needles are amazing, and I’m so glad I got some on Wendy’s recommendation. I am also totally in love with her sock patterns. I know I’ll be getting more.
Additionally, at one point I had bought “Bone Chillers” because… In the war of pirates vs. ninjas, I am a pirate. Well… The cats literally whine at me until I give them cold water. Solution?

Pirate Kitty Water!
Enjoy the top of my Lucy’s head. Alice was a little off to the right. couldn’t get her in there.
Aside from that, just knitting for tonight. And reading. A little bit more designing left to do before I release anything officially.
That’s it for me today.

I’ve added a thing that benefits me amazingly. I love the interface of WordPress so very much, but I don’t want to lose my LJ or leave it sadly waiting like a lost puppy.
talia_speaks showed me an application that allows me to post to my wordpress (like I am doing now) and it will also post to my livejournal. Which is good, because I can have comments on LJ and comments here.
of course, i don’t really want the general public knowing about everything… so things that i f-lock here on WP, i f-lock on my lj by default. I mean, all posts are posted to my LJ f-locked anyway. I don’t want people knowing I’m doing this. Silliness, right?
So then, LJ has a new tag: WordPress. Be prepared…
Wedding stuff will still probably be LJ only though. Just cause.
Now, to see how this works… *test*
Well, isn’t that lovely! The cut doesn’t work on LJ, but it does on WP. Sorry friendslist!
Oh yeah. Works now. Just no pretty flavor text. oh well!

Hiya Hiya 2mm 9″ circular knitting needles
Wendy Knits Catriona Knee Socks! (her latest pattern. I’m so in love!)
Wendy Knits Hearts for Heidi Socks! (adorable!)
!!!SOCK BLOCKERS!!! THATS WHAT THOSE THINGS ARE CALLED.
Lane Borgosesia Cashwool in Dusty Mauve (CASHMERE WOOL BLEND! WARM AND SOFT!)
Im drooling over all of that.
BY THE WAY I was told that if I refer you to the Loopy Ewe that it benefits me. Every time you say I sent you there, I get monies. Which I would probably try to return the favor. :D We can remind each other to shop there!
So get your butt over there! I know I’m going back. I JUST ordered, and already, there’s excellent customer service.

I bought some lovely roving from natchwoolie on Etsy. I’m not much of a fiber junkie yet, but I really love what I got!

Pictures from etsy seller: Natchwoolie
They are absolutely lovely! I’m planning a pair of mittens out of these. The brown is a naturally dyed wool, and the white is a wool and mohair blend. I have 1.7 oz of brown and 4oz of white.
I am looking to create a pair of mittens in the Swedish? Style. Those ones with those intricate folksy designs.
Now I just need a spindle! I know I can make one, but it would be nice to have a pretty one. Perhaps I can make one?

Sleeve laid flat
This is my new knitting project. In the summertime I wear tank tops, and I love to wear my bra with them. The problem with that is that the bra will show. So this little shrug will keep that from happening. I will also attempt to to add lace. Since this is based off of the Possum Shrug, I will need to add sections to the back and front to make it more like the bolero that I want. Now I just need to find a way to make a front for it. I’m sure it will all come together. I will post erratta when I’m done, and hopefully I won’t be awful at writing patterns.

Sleeve Worn
The color happens to look really good on me. So far, I’m pleased.
In other news, the wedding planning is coming along well. I’ve accepted that I cannot plan it all in one night, and that it may not be perfect. (but how can something be perfect when I don’t know what I want?) I have come to realize that it doesn’t matter. After all is said and done, pretty pictures or not, I get to have my love for the rest of our lives. That’s the important thing, and I’m going to try to stop stressing about it being “pretty” cause it’s not really about that. Is it? I need to stop being a small detail person and be more of a big picture person. But then I suppose I wouldn’t put as much detail in my clothing designs and such! Maybe just for this I can overlook detail, right?
