I had a day off today, and aside from completing some pajama pants that were due finished before christmas for the sister-in-law… I decided to try “Hot Chocolate on a Stick”. They are in the fridge as I type this sentence. I got the recipe from Gifters Log, and thought it was PERFECT for this time of year. I have no chocolate-crafting experience, and I found this to be easy. I would say… Keep your cats away and use a frosting bag instead of a sandwich bag. Mine didn’t seal properly and made a big big mess….

food, to-do
Well, stumble brings me pleasure at night when our roommate is asleep, and my husband catches his nap. What I find is that I want things more than normal. Recently? Candy.
Firstly, I come across Sugar Factory Couture Lollipops. I think to myself… Isn’t that perfect? Sweet, Deco, and Gyaru lolitas would love that, I’m sure. I’m intrigued by the pina coloda flavor, and by the “Tiffany” style pop.
Second, I rediscover Hi-Chew. Next week will help me stock up on candy. Ume, grape, and banana hi-chew have been my favorites, but I happen to also love Muscat, and am searching for that flavor. I also heard there is a mango hi-chew. I’ll have to look into that more.
Thirdly… I realized the one thing I’ve missed about going to the beach with my mom. Barley pops. At least that’s what we’ve called them. They’re… slightly spiced lolipops in shapes that remind you of the beach (unless it’s a holiday). So thanks to Candy Addict, I’ve been finding a lot of things I’ve missed in the back of my head and on my tongue. Their review of the fruit variety of these pops is really interesting as well. The flavors are subtle, so I’m interested in ordering from the Melville Candy Company.

I want to implement a couple of fun things for this blog…
Today, I tested a recipe from Joyofbaking.com, and overall I’m pretty pleased. I substituted nuts with toasted oats. (really, I was lazy. I put butter in a frying pan, and tossed in some oatmeal.)

It gets 4/5 stars because I didn’t follow the recipe exactly. I also used more butter than recommended. But other than that it would have been 5 across! I think it needs a little sprinkling of 10x sugar!
